Melisanda Feliz Wins Fulbright Student Grant

Melisanda Feliz earned both her BS (2022) and MS (2023) in Biomedical Engineering from the Âé¶¹´«Ã½, completing her master’s through the Center for Medical Technology Innovation (CMTI) program. We are proud to share that she was recently awarded a in La Rioja, Spain, where she will help Spanish children strengthen their English communication skills.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State since 1946, the aims to promote mutual understanding and peace between the United States and other nations through educational and cultural exchange. Recipients conduct research, pursue advanced studies, and assist in teaching English communication skills and American culture abroad, while also participating in a wide range of self-initiated community engagement endeavors in their host countries.

Feliz spent the 2020 spring semester abroad in Sydney, Australia, although her experience was cut short by the global pandemic. She previously applied her passion for children's education by serving as a kindergarten tutor in the through Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Center for Community Engagement. The former Kearns Scholar and McNair Scholar was also a chemistry peer study group leader and teaching assistant for several biomedical engineering courses while in Âé¶¹´«Ã½. She hopes to incorporate her engineering skills into her teaching and extracurricular activities in Spain.
